El Nacimiento de un jardín
2019
El Nacimiento de un Jardín or the birth of a garden is a series of cyanotypes on different supports, mainly on eggshells. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that reveals the image in blue/cyan color. This process was created in 1842, due to its low cost it was used until the beginnings of the 20th century. It is an experimental technique, which requires a process of study in order to obtain the desired results as it is very temperamental.
This series focuses on highlighting elements of nature, as several of these were used as objects to mark and create the image inside the eggs. The work process for this series was done over a long period of time, since the egg format involves many tests to achieve the necessary results and care of each of the pieces.
Some of the works of this series were exhibited in the Experimental exhibition, at the gallery of the School of Plastic Arts, University of Costa Rica, 2019. In addition, the process log was included as it allowed visitors to learn about the process of study for the development of the work.
The brochure design and photography was done by Yapi Mora
